US Contribution of $34.5 Billion in Aid to Foreign Countries

In the year 2013, the United States has given $34.5 billion in aid to foreign countries. The White House is now seeking to cut funds for promoting democracy in the Middle East (Fox News). So far, whatever money has been spent has not resulted in any progress: the Middle East is still not a democratic region, with the exception of Israel. Considering that the US is in growing debt, the White House's decision seems to be a smart move. That doesn't mean we no longer believe in promoting democracy. But, throwing money at a country has accomplished nothing. Time for Plan B.
